Cosmetic Dermatology
Wrinkle relaxers, used with restraint.
Neuromodulators soften the lines created by repeated muscle movement. Injected conservatively and with an understanding of facial anatomy, they should leave you looking rested rather than treated.

Candidacy
What it’s good for
- Frown lines between the brows
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Crow's feet at the outer eyes
- Selected other areas such as the chin, jawline or neck bands
- Excessive underarm sweating in appropriate patients
How it works
The mechanism, plainly
These medications temporarily reduce the signal from nerve to muscle, so the treated muscle contracts less forcefully and the skin over it creases less.
Dosing and placement are chosen for your anatomy and how you actually move your face, which is why results differ so much between injectors using the same product.
Lines etched into the skin at rest may need resurfacing or other treatment alongside a neuromodulator.
The visit
What to expect in the room
- Your face is assessed at rest and in motion, and the plan is discussed and agreed before anything is injected.
- Treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes using very fine needles.
- Onset is typically three to seven days, with full effect around two weeks.
- A follow-up assessment can be arranged after your first treatment.
Recovery
Downtime and aftercare
- Small bumps at injection sites for 15 to 30 minutes
- Occasional pinpoint bruising
- Avoid rubbing the area and lying flat for several hours
- Normal activity otherwise
Honest expectations
What this treatment will not do
Effects are temporary and typically last around three to four months, varying between individuals. Uncommon effects include asymmetry or temporary eyelid or brow heaviness. We treat conservatively at first and refine at follow-up rather than overcorrecting.
Cosmetic treatments are not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of booking, and a cosmetic consultation is $150. Pricing is subject to change, and a consultation may be required before treatment.
This page is general education and is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not create a physician–patient relationship. Individual circumstances differ; please discuss your own skin with a qualified clinician. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911.
