Patients

Concierge membership, for patients who want closer access.

Membership is entirely optional. It exists for patients who want a more direct relationship with the practice, and it works alongside your insurance rather than replacing it.

Dr. Gaul and a patient in unhurried conversation

The model

A hybrid arrangement

Our membership is a hybrid of concierge and insurance-based care. Covered medical services continue to be billed to your insurance in the usual way. The annual membership fee covers the access and convenience that insurance does not pay for.

$500 per year. Membership is not insurance, is not a health plan, and does not replace insurance coverage. It does not cover the cost of medical services, procedures, pathology, cosmetic treatments or medications.

What it includes

Member benefits

  • Expedited appointments when something needs to be seen promptly.
  • A post-operative wound care kit for the first week after your surgeries.
  • A personalized skin care and cosmetic plan, if you would like one.
  • 10% off all cosmetic charges and products sold in the office.
  • Treatment of 1–2 lesions per visit that do not legally require pathology (they are not cut off), with the aim of destruction — including extraction of clinically normal milia, and destruction of clinically normal seborrheic keratoses, angiomas, skin tags and sebaceous hyperplasia.

Dr. Gaul wants to practice differently — allowing more time with her patients and accommodating last-minute needs as they come up. If you have a new rash or a concerning changing lesion, you shouldn't have to wait until things escalate. She also cares about the annoying spots that bother you even though they are benign, and looks forward to treating them more reasonably for members.

The specific terms of membership, including exactly what is and is not included, are provided in a membership agreement before you enroll. Please read it, and ask us anything that is unclear.

Important

What membership is not

  • It is not insurance and does not provide insurance benefits.
  • It does not waive copays, coinsurance or deductibles for covered services.
  • It does not cover the cost of cosmetic treatments themselves — members receive 10% off them.
  • It is not required in order to be a patient here.
  • It cannot be offered to Medicaid beneficiaries, consistent with program rules.

Most patients here are not members, and they receive the same clinical care and the same attention. Membership adds access, not quality.

How to join or ask questions

If you would like to know whether membership makes sense for you, call us at 605-600-8380. We will explain how it works, send you the agreement, and answer questions before you decide. There is no pressure and no benefit to us in enrolling someone who would not use it.

For our insurance and cash-pay policies, see the insurance and billing page.

This page is general education and is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not create a physician–patient relationship. Individual circumstances differ; please discuss your own skin with a qualified clinician. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911.
