Microneedling for texture, tone and scarring.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injury that triggers collagen production. We use SkinPen, a motorized microneedling device, and it is a workhorse treatment for texture, pores and acne scarring, with modest downtime and a good safety profile across skin types.

Candidacy
What it’s good for
- Uneven texture and enlarged pores
- Acne scarring, particularly shallow rolling scars
- Fine lines and early laxity
- Overall skin quality and tone
- Hair loss, when combined with platelet-rich plasma or exosomes on the scalp
How it works
The mechanism, plainly
We treat with SkinPen, a motorized pen device that uses a single-use sterile cartridge.
Very fine needles create thousands of microscopic channels at a controlled depth, which initiates a healing cascade that lays down new collagen and elastin.
Depth is adjusted by area and concern, and treatment is often paired with topical serums, platelet-rich plasma or exosomes.
Because it does not rely on light energy, microneedling is generally safe across the full range of skin tones.
The visit
What to expect in the room
- Topical numbing cream is applied for about 30 minutes before treatment.
- The device is passed over the area in a systematic pattern; treatment takes about 30 minutes.
- A series of three or more sessions, four to six weeks apart, is typical.
Recovery
Downtime and aftercare
- Redness resembling a moderate sunburn for one to three days
- Mild swelling and tightness
- Occasional pinpoint bleeding during the treatment
- Makeup is generally avoided for 24 hours

What this treatment will not do
Microneedling gives incremental improvement, which is exactly why it works well in a series. Deep or tethered scars usually need subcision, laser resurfacing or a combination approach; microneedling alone will underdeliver for those.
Cosmetic treatments are not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of booking, and a cosmetic consultation is $150. Pricing is subject to change, and a consultation may be required before treatment.
